Road Construction
North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is in the process of completing major projects that will eventually improve traffic flow and safety in our area.
NCDOT has commenced the work to add two lanes of traffic in both direction of I-40 between Exit 301 (I-440) and Exit 312 (NC 42). This project will also include reconstruction of the I40/42 interchange with a diverging diamond and new ramps directly onto Cleveland Road. The interchange work is scheduled to begin in 2020 and be completed in 2022. In 2022 NCDOT will commence the NC 42 widening project from NC 50 to NC 70 that will include a four lane road divided by a median west of Old Drugstore Road and east of Son-Lan Parkway. Go to the link below for more information on the project.
